New Ramsetu Bridge to Be Built Over Yamuna in Prayagraj During Maha Kumbh
New Ramsetu Bridge Prayagraj has received a major gift in the midst of the ongoing Maha Kumbh festival. The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has announced plans to construct a new bridge over the Yamuna River, which will be named “Ramsetu.” This decision was made during a meeting of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation after the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet’s meeting regarding the Maha Kumbh.

According to an official statement released by the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, the meeting, chaired by Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesrwani, took place on Monday. During the meeting, the corporation approved a proposal for development works worth ₹462 crores. Among the major developments is the construction of the “Ramsetu” pedestrian bridge over the Yamuna River and the New Ramsetu Bridge establishment of an international spiritual university to promote spiritual education.According to an official statement

The meeting, which was held at the Triveni Sankul in the Mela Circuit House of Sangam area, emphasized creating a “future Prayagraj” with plans for the next 50 years. Mayor Kesrwani mentioned that the municipality was working on projects for the 2025-26 period, with ₹462 crores allocated for various development projects.
One notable project is the construction of a “Literature Park” at a cost of ₹10 crore. Additionally, the new “Ramsetu” pedestrian bridge will be a significant addition to the city’s infrastructure. The bridge is New Ramsetu Bridge intended to connect the Arali Ghat to Yamuna Bank Road (Boat Club), making it more convenient for tourists to explore the city’s New Ramsetu Bridge religious landmarks.

According to Mayor Kesrwani, it is a little-known fact that Lord Ram also crossed the Yamuna River and bathed in it. To promote religious tourism in Prayagraj, the “Ramsetu” pedestrian bridge will enhance the city’s spiritual significance.
In addition to the bridge, the meeting also approved a proposal for the establishment of an international spiritual university, which is expected to further elevate the cultural and spiritual importance of Prayagraj.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including the Municipal Commissioner Chandramohan Garg, Additional Municipal Commissioner Arvind Kumar Rai, and zonal officer Sanjay Mamgai, among New Ramsetu Bridge others.
